Ways Invisalign can help your crooked teeth

A crooked, uneven smile can make you feel uncomfortable with your overall appearance. If you want to know how you can fix gaps and overlaps without relying on bracket and wire braces, you can talk with your orthodontist at Angel Orthodontics about Invisalign.

What are Invisalign braces?

Invisalign is a removable and invisible orthodontic alternative to more traditional orthodontic solutions. It’s a clear tooth aligner and therefore ideal for anyone who finds the idea of showing metal braces when smiling too unattractive or annoying. As these aligner trays are made of comfortable and transparent plastic they are a modern high-tech solution for non-intrusive straightening of your crooked teeth.

What is the Invisalign treatment procedure?

Invisalign aligners are created at the Align Technologies dental laboratory using computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) processes after having scanned your upper and lower gums digitally.

You will be sent your digital assessment and a proposed plan for your Invisalign treatment to straighten your teeth. The lab sends your customized aligners to Angel Orthodontics, and we will dispense them in roughly every two weeks during regular check-up appointments so we can manage and analyse your treatment adequately.

It’s vital that you wear each aligner in its specific order as your teeth are gently shifted in small increments into the intended position. The aligners are practical as they can be removed for eating, drinking and brushing/flossing, but they must be worn at least 20 hours a day to successfully reposition your teeth.

Each time you put a new tray on, it will feel tight, making the teeth slightly sore. After a while, it will start to feel loose, meaning that it is time to wear the next one in the series. Once you have gone through all of the aligners you’ve been given by your orthodontist, the teeth will most likely be perfectly straight and aligned.

On average, 20 to 30 aligners for both the upper and lower teeth are normally needed throughout the course and most adults complete their treatment in about a year. However, treatment time depends on the specific alignment problem.

What are the benefits of straightening my teeth with Invisalign?

While we would love to say that Invisalign can straighten teeth faster than braces, this is not necessarily the case. The length of time it takes to straighten teeth will depend on how your individual treatment progresses.

However, you can talk and laugh without restrictions or impediment due to their invisibility.

They are especially beneficial for :
Overcrowded teeth: Not enough room for all the teeth to fit comfortably or normally in your jaw.
Wide spaces between teeth: Big spaces or gaps between teeth caused by abnormal growth of the jaw or missing teeth causing shifts of the teeth.
Overbite/Crossbite: Upper teeth bite extends over the lower teeth bite or upper and lower jaws not being aligned properly.
Mild relapse: After treatment with traditional braces some tooth movement occurs, making teeth crooked again.

Using a sequence of clear aligners for your smile can lead to impressive results, while also helping you remain confident in your appearance during your adjustment and beyond.

At Angel Orthodontics, we can improve the appearance and function of your smile by using these clear aligners. If you want a discreet way to straighten your teeth, this is an excellent option and one that we encourage you to try for all mentioned reasons.
